Roll call and money

The resolution doesn't list how each supervisor voted; that's in the Statement of Proceedings for June 22, which isn't linked yet. Only about $13.0B of the County budget is local money the Board fully controls.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Jun 22, 2026 · Needs contextThe Board approved a $50.3 billion final budget unanimously. The adopted resolution's grand total is $56.5B because it counts every fund, including special districts. The $50.3B matches the County's budget charts. The unanimous vote isn't confirmed until the Statement of Proceedings is linked.Read the claim →
The law behind it
  • AB 218 (2019): Gave survivors of childhood sexual abuse more time to sue. Claims against the County followed, and the County has committed more than $4.8 billion to settlements. That money is not available for other County programs.
  • H.R. 1 (2025 federal budget law): The 2025 federal budget law cut federal support for Medicaid (Medi-Cal) and food benefits (CalFresh) and added work requirements. The County's health and social service budgets absorb much of the cut.
